Spiralyze alternatives: CRO agency or software in 2026?

Spiralyze makes an offer that’s hard to argue with. “30% lift in 90 days. No fee until we deliver.” More precisely: 10 tests, 3 wins, more than 30% lift in your first 90 days, and you pay nothing until they’ve done it.

I’ll say plainly what most competitor pages wouldn’t. On risk alone, that’s a better offer than ours. We refund you after 90 days if results don’t come. They don’t charge you until results do. Same principle, and theirs is the stronger version.

So this page isn’t about whether Spiralyze is good. It’s about whether an agency or software is the right shape of solution for you, which is a genuinely different question.

What you’re actually choosing between

Spiralyze is a full-service agency. 170 specialists, a prediction engine built on A/B tests from 78,000 websites, and their team handles design and development. You hand over the problem and they run it.

PageTest.AI Done For You at $1,999 a month is software with the setup done for you. We configure testing across your funnels, then you get a monthly call and report. The tool stays yours and your team keeps using it.

Those are different purchases with different endings. One rents you a capability. The other builds you one.

Where Spiralyze wins

The risk model. No fee until delivered beats a refund after the fact. If cash flow is tight or you’ve been burned before, that difference is real.

Scale of team. 170 people, including designers and developers. If a test needs a new page built, they build it.

Their prediction data. Patterns drawn from tests across 78,000 sites is a genuine asset, and it’s not something you can buy elsewhere.

Deep B2B SaaS specialism. They’re explicit that B2B SaaS is their market. If that’s you, they’ve seen your funnel before.

Where the agency model costs you

None of these are criticisms of Spiralyze specifically. They’re true of agency engagements generally.

You don’t keep the capability. When the engagement ends, the testing stops. Your team hasn’t learned to run experiments, because someone else was doing it. That’s the fundamental trade.

You’re not in control of the queue. Their roadmap decides what gets tested and when. If you want to test tomorrow’s landing page tomorrow, you’re asking rather than doing.

Minimum traffic requirements. They need at least 1,000 unique monthly visitors. Sensible, and it rules some businesses out.

It’s B2B SaaS focused. If you’re ecommerce, a marketplace, or a local service business, you’re outside their stated specialism.

Cost is opaque and scales. Performance-based sounds free until it isn’t. The fee arrives when the lift does, and it’s scoped to your business rather than published.

When to hire Spiralyze instead

You’re B2B SaaS with real traffic and no internal CRO capacity. That’s their customer, precisely.

You need pages designed and built, not just tested. We test what exists. They’ll make new things to test.

You want zero upfront risk. Their model is genuinely better on this and I’m not going to pretend otherwise.

You’d rather buy an outcome than a tool. Some teams want the result and not the operating cost of learning to do it. That’s a legitimate choice.

When Done For You is the better shape

You want to end up with the capability. After 6 months with an agency you have some wins and no testing function. After 6 months with us, your team runs experiments as a habit and the tool is already in place.

You want to know the cost. $1,999 a month, published, budgetable. Performance-based pricing is harder to plan around than it first appears.

You’re not B2B SaaS. Ecommerce, publishing, lead gen, local services. We don’t have a stated specialism to fall outside of.

You want to test on your own timetable. Your priority, your queue, today.

You want to start smaller. Our Starter plan at $299 lets you find out whether testing moves your numbers before committing to $1,999. An agency engagement doesn’t really have a small version.

A middle path worth considering

You don’t have to pick one forever.

A pattern I’d suggest: run software yourself for 3 months and see whether your team actually builds the habit. If tests are running and results are coming, keep going and save the agency fee. If 3 months pass and no one has launched anything, that’s genuinely useful information, and it tells you an agency is the right answer for your team.

That’s a cheaper way to find out than signing an engagement first.

Other spiralyze alternatives

If you’re weighing agency against software more broadly, the software side of the decision is covered in our A/B testing platform comparison, with real prices for every platform that publishes one.

Worth a look specifically:

Optimizely if you want enterprise software and have engineers to run it.

AB Tasty whose quotes include onboarding and training, which sits partway between software and service.

VWO for a broad platform your team runs itself.

Spiralyze alternative FAQs

How much does Spiralyze cost?

They don’t publish fees. The model is performance-based, with no fee until they deliver the promised lift. The cost is scoped to your business, so you’ll need a conversation.

Is Spiralyze’s guarantee better than PageTest.AI’s?

On risk, yes. They don’t charge until they deliver a 30% lift in 90 days. We charge monthly and refund everything if clicks, sales or conversions haven’t improved in 90 days. Theirs is the stronger structure. Ours costs a fraction as much and leaves you owning the tool.

Should I hire a CRO agency or buy software?

Agency if you have budget, no internal capacity, and you want an outcome. Software if you want the capability to stay in-house and you have someone willing to own it. The failure mode for software is that it sits unused, so be honest about whether that person exists.

How much traffic do I need for CRO to be worth it?

Spiralyze requires 1,000 unique monthly visitors as a minimum. That’s a reasonable floor for any testing programme. Our sample size guide covers how to work out what you need per variation.

What happens when a CRO agency engagement ends?

The testing stops, unless you’ve built internal capacity alongside it. Ask any agency you’re considering what you keep at the end, and whether your team will be able to continue without them.

The best Optimizely alternative: a comparison for 2026

Optimizely is the most capable experimentation platform on the market. I don’t think that’s seriously disputed. Server-side testing, feature flags, personalization, statistical depth, and it all runs at genuine enterprise scale. In 2026 they’ve wrapped the whole thing in “agentic experimentation” branding and shipped an AI variation development agent, and the underlying Web Experimentation product […]
